How Does It Work?

Skin type and history are checked. The area is cleaned; chilled gel is applied; patient and provider wear protective eyewear. Pulses are placed with the cooled tip in contact. Sensation is often compared to a quick rubber-band snap.

Small facial areas often 15–20 minutes. Face plus neck and chest often 30–45 minutes.

Preparing for Your Treatment

3–4 weeks before

No tanning beds, sunburn, or self-tanner. Tanned skin is not treated.

Days before

Pause actives

Pause retinoids and exfoliants if instructed. Tell the clinic about photosensitizing medicines and cold-sore history.

Day of treatment

Arrive prepared

Clean skin, no makeup. Do not treat irritated or recently burned skin.

Aftercare & Recovery

Right after

Cool the skin

Cool compresses as directed. Expect a mild sunburn feel. Darkening of spots is expected.

First 24–48 hours

Skip heat

Avoid extra heat, heavy sweat, and swimming if that is on your sheet. Do not pick crusts.

For 1–2 weeks

Protect from sun

Daily SPF is required. Treated brown spots typically darken, then flake. Do not pick the flakes. No tanning beds during a series.

Recovery

Minimal downtime. Redness can last hours to a couple of days. Treated brown spots typically darken, then flake over about 1–2 weeks.

Results

Pigment often crusts and sheds over 7–14 days. Existing FAQ notes a 2–3 session range.
